- RATIONALE: comp.object.corba
-
- OMG CORBA appears to be one of the most important standards for open
- distributed systems. More and more CORBA-related postings are appearing
- on Usenet. However, due to the lack of a CORBA newsgroup, the discussion
- is scattered over a variety of newsgroups, mailing lists, and Web pages.
- There is an increasing number of people looking for information on CORBA.
- However, they often have difficulties reaching CORBA experts, as many of
- the CORBA mailing lists are OMG-internal or only known to CORBA experts.
- The purpose of the CORBA Usenet group is to make discussions on the topic
- more accessible to the entire network community.
-
- CHARTER: comp.object.corba
-
- The unmoderated newsgroup comp.object.corba is to be used for technical
- discussions, announcements, expression of opinions, and questions that are
- related with the OMG CORBA standard. It also serves as a medium for those
- interested in sharing and exchanging their experience with CORBA products.
-
- Possible discussion issues include these aspects of CORBA:
-
- - CORBA questions
- - Experience reports
- - Product evaluations
- - Component-ware
- - Cross-Platform Development
- - Plug-and-Play CORBA objects
- - Announcement of new CORBA documents
- - Determining CORBA interfaces for commonly needed services
- - New language mappings for CORBA IDL
- - Need-to-have and nice-to-have features of CORBA Object Request Brokers
- - CORBA business objects
- - Integration of legacy information systems into CORBA applications
- - CORBA frameworks
- - The future of CORBA
- - Announcement of OMG CORBA meetings that are open to the public
- - Seminar announcements
-
- END CHARTER.
-

- IMPORTANT VOTING PROCEDURE NOTES:
-
- Standard Guidelines for voting apply. Only one vote per person, no
- more than one vote per account. Votes must be mailed directly from
- the voter to the votetaker. Anonymous, forwarded, or proxy votes
- are not valid. Votes mailed by WWW/HTML/CGI forms are considered
- to be anonymous votes.
-
- Vote counting is automated. Failure to follow these directions may
- mean that your vote does not get counted. If you do not receive an
- acknowledgment of your vote within three days, contact the votetaker
- about the problem. It's your responsibility to make sure your vote
- is registered correctly. Duplicate votes are resolved in favor of
- the most recent valid vote. Names, addresses, and votes of all voters
- will be published in the final voting results post.
-
- DO NOT redistribute this CFV in any manner whatsoever. The purpose of
- a Usenet vote is to determine the genuine interest of persons who would
- read a proposed newsgroup. Soliciting votes from disinterested parties
- defeats this purpose. Only the votetaker, the news.announce.newgroups
- moderator, and the proponent (if specifically authorized by the votetaker)
- are permitted to distribute copies of this CFV.
-
- Distribution of pre-marked or otherwise modified copies of this CFV is
- generally considered voting fraud and should be reported immediately to
- the votetaker or the UVV <contact@uvv.org>. In cases where voting fraud
- is determined to have occurred, it is standard operating procedure to
- delete ALL votes submitted by the violator. When in doubt, ask the
- votetaker.
-
- DISTRIBUTION:
-
